Three Indicators to Avoid Kidney Failure
For some kidney patients, they can maintain their renal function and lead a normal life, while for some kidney patients, they go into Kidney Failure. Chronic Kidney D isease (CKD) includes many types of nephropathy. With different pathological types and different stages, the degree of difficulty in treatment and recovery are also different. Kidney disease treatment emphasizes individualized treatment, but at the same time, treatment has common characteristics. No matter what type of nephropathy, we need to control these three indicators. Neither one is indispensable. Kidney patients should check themselves to see if these indicators meet the requirements.
1. 24h urine protein and plasma albumin
The development of proteinuria can affect renal filtration function, thus affecting the final development of kidney disease. Proteinuria-lowering therapy is also a key step in delaying renal function. At present, the treatment of reducing proteinuria level mainly adopts steroid combined with immunosuppressive therapy, which is effective for 80% of kidney patients. But some patients are too sensitive to steroids. They can also take antihypertensive drugs such as ACEI, ARBs (which are forbidden in patients with renal insufficiency), statins, leflunomide and other anti-inflammatory drugs.
In order to strengthen the therapeutic effect of steroids and other drugs, kidney patients should also manage diet, reduce infection and so on.
There is another index of proteinuria, which has not been paid much attention to, but can not be ignored - plasma albumin. Serum albumin is one of the causes of renal edema, cardiopulmonary edema and thrombosis. It also affects the immunity of patients. Therefore, don't forget to manage this index well. Proteinuria quantification is generally maintained below 1g, which is more helpful to avoid uremia. Adult plasma albumin is normal between 35 and 50 g/L.
2. GFR and kidney size
The various kidney function includes detoxification, filtration, regulation of water, electrolyte, acid-base balance and so on. This is very abstract. In fact, there is an indicator that can directly reflect the status of renal function, that is, glomerular filtration rate (GFR). This index mainly depends on the amount of plasma filtered by the glomerulus per unit time. Simply speaking, it is how much work the glomerulus can do in a certain period of time. If the filtration capacity is insufficient, it indicates that the glomerulus is damaged, and then the whole kidney function also appears problems. Generally, the GFR is greater than or equal to 60 ml/min/1.73 m2, which indicates that the renal function is good. Once it is lower than 60 ml/min/1.73 m2, it means that renal insufficiency occurs. We should actively do a good job of kidney protection treatment.
Renal atrophy occurs after fibrosis and sclerosis of the kidney. The size of both kidneys can be observed by B-mode ultrasonography. In addition to proteinuria, these two indicators are also one of the most important indicators in the treatment process.
3. High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and high uric acid
Renal hypertension and hyperlipidemia are vascular diseases caused by abnormal blood circulation after impaired renal function, and some kidney patients have high blood pressure and hyperlipidemia themselves. We should pay attention to the treatment.
Hypertension and hyperlipidemia will continue to destroy kidney cells, glomeruli and other kidney tissues, which will lead to structural lesions and aggravate inflammation in the kidney, thus increasing the level of toxins, accelerating kidney failure and causing a vicious circle.
High uric acid is the expression of endotoxin level in kidney. Generally, patients with renal insufficiency will have elevated serum creatinine and uric acid, mainly due to poor kidney metabolism and detoxification ability. At the same time, uric acid will crystallize and deposit on the kidney, causing damage to the renal tubules, which will not only affect the renal reabsorption function, but also cause kidney atrophy, causing more kidney cells to lose their ability to work.
Now you know the three indicators. If you want to avoid kidney failure, you should pay attention to them. For more information on kidney failure, please leave a message below or contact online doctor.
